One of my favourite stores in Calgary, Iron Crow, announced that they were moving locations earlier this year. This announcement came just before lockdown and as the full impact of this pandemic became known, they delayed the opening of their new location. On August 1st, they officially welcomed everyone to see their new space which is a huge warehouse in the Manchester Industrial Park district.
The warehouse has high ceilings and is beautifully merchandised. Throughout the space, you’ll find partitions where ‘rooms’ have been created displaying similar items or specific looks. For example, they created this lovely vignette showcasing kitchen items.
Above, is a beautifully styled bedroom. There are so many layers in this space that you really need to take your time during your visit as with each look, you’ll find something new.
One thing I love about this store is all the primitive and naively made pieces. It’s so great that someone else now has the chance to enjoy something that was clearly made with love.
The back of the warehouse includes a great selection of corbels, ironwork and industrial lighting.
This canoe was filled with duck decoys, fishing rods and nets.
A great new feature of this warehouse, is the amount of wall space available to hang stained glass, vintage signage and artwork.
Their collections are well curated and cleverly displayed.
I love this little corner space with the framed maps clustered together.
Be sure to visit Iron Crow at their new location – 5746 Burleigh Crescent SE. Definitely plan for at least an hour to move through the space. Hand sanitiser is available at the front door and given the size of the building, it is incredibly easy to social distance. As the mask bylaw came into effect in the city on August 1st, I supplemented my summer look with a coordinating mask. You just have to stay positive!
