Glass cloche

I think this is a great masculine display.  It’s currently on a console table in my front room and is pretty hard to properly photograph as lots of light comes in from the bay window.

I found this glass cloche for a great price at the Old Strathcona Antique Mall.  Underneath it is a wood block stamp used on fabric.  I picked it up ages ago from an antique store in Calgary that’s no longer in business.  I love the texture of the piece and the flecks of coloured dye that can still be seen in the design.  It’s resting on Dorothy, An Autobiography by J.A. Nutt and was published in 1880.  I found it in the basement of my grandfather’s house years ago and it was given as a recitation award to someone that’s not from our family so I really don’t know where it came from.

The black metal mechanical part is just a piece that I really liked the shape of.  And I think that’s a fine excuse for displaying it!  My fave find from the Vintage with Flair Christmas Market is this wee metal shoe form.  I love its rusty colour.
