I am in need of a coffee table. My old couch had a large ottoman which doubled as a coffee table but I went sans ottoman with my new sofa.
I was recently reading an article in House Beautiful on strategies for making the most of any small space. One of the tips was to consider using two small round tables instead of one big coffee table. This results in better traffic flow and two small pieces of furniture are easier to move around than one large piece. This is a perfect solution for my family room as it’s not very large and it would be great to keep the space as flexible as possible.
For the size of my sofa and room, I’m looking for a maximum height of 17″ and a maximum overall length of 43″. The typical guideline is for the height of the table to be the same height or 1-2″ lower than your seat cushion and the length of the table should then be about two-thirds the length of the sofa (excluding the arms).
