store love – blue jar antique mall

Typewriter

I headed up to St. Albert for the Easter long weekend and my Mom and I hit as many antique and thrift stores as we could.  One of the newest additions to our list of ‘must-visit’ stores is Blue Jar Antique Mall (15230 Stony Plain Rd, Edmonton).  They’ve just celebrated their first anniversary and are home to about 50 dealers.  I missed taking a photo of where their name comes from.  The number for each booth is listed on a blue-painted mason jar – a really fun idea.

Old clock

I love the font used on this vintage clock.

Hatbox

I have never seen a hatbox like this and I love it.

Vintage items

Many booths contain an assortment of interesting items like this one.

Green vase

That apple green lamp has a really great shape.

Coffee sack lampshade

I have a few burlap coffee sacks that I could re-purpose like this.

Updated desk

The wall  of this booth was beautifully covered in pages from an old book.  I also really liked the contrast with the darker wood top of this desk and the painted drawers.

Geese decoys

I can’t get enough of these paper decoys.  They would look so amazing in a cottage.

Blue Jar is certainly a great addition to the city and definitely a store I’ll be visiting on my next trip north.

  1. Thank you so much for the glowing recommendation.

Re-purposing, or up-cycling as some call it is a growing trend and we’re pleased to be able to provide some of the articles enabling people to complete their projects.
